What vaccinations are needed?
Every dog as a puppy should have had their routine vaccinations which help to protect against Leptospirosis, Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus. These vaccinations are given to the dog as puppies and are then kept up to date as booster jabs every 12 months. Your dog should have had their vaccinations 14 days prior to coming into Royvon.
The other vaccination that your dog needs before coming into Royvon is the Kennel cough vaccine. This is a jab that you will have to request from your vet as it is not a routine one that they give to dogs. This vaccination has to also be updated every 12 months. Your dog must be vaccinated against kennel cough at least 3 days prior to coming in.
Why does my dog need the kennel cough vaccination?
Kennel cough is a highly contagious disease. It usually causes a dry, hacking cough, runny nose and sneezing. In bad cases it can turn into Bordetella Bronchiseptica infection. This is why we request that all dogs have the vaccination before coming in, it helps not only your dog to stay healthy but also helps the risk of kennel cough spreading.
Do I need to bring the vaccination card with me?
Yes, we require that you bring your dog’s vaccination card with you, this way we can enter the records into our system so that the checking in process runs smoothly.
What if I have lost my dogs vaccination card?
If you have lost the vaccination card that is no problem! Your vets will be happy to give you another copy. If you realise you have lost it and it is too short notice to go to your vets we can always ring them. To avoid delays please attempt to organise the proof of vaccinations in advance.
What annual boosters does my dog need?
The annual boosters that your dog needs are Leptospirosis, Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus, this is the same jab that your dog will of initially had as a puppy where they will have had two. The boosters only require one jab.
Your dog will also need to have the kennel cough vaccination annually as well.
What happens if my vet advises that I have to start the double vaccination again on my vet’s instructions but I only have enough time to get the first jab done before my dog’s arrival date?
Unfortunately, we cannot take your dog in if they have had to re-start their vaccinations and have only had the first jab. The only option that we can offer you is to change your dates*.
